About Me

Michael is a father of four and lives in Illinois. During appointments, Michael provides a caring, comfortable, and empathetic experience. He is respectful about the unique dynamics of every individual, couple, and family. He is known for his genuine and accepting personality. Sometimes people worry about being judged or treated harshly in counseling. With Michael, you will quickly learn how easy-going and non-judgmental he is; like you’ve known him for years. Your opinion and perception of things is what he wants to hear about, because this is what augments relief from stress. Guidance is provided, but not pushed on clients.

Dr. Milano lives in Illinois and loves being outside in nature. She uses a strengths-based, kind, and supportive approach. Her goal is to identify ineffective patterns that cause the discomfort you are feeling. Together, we figure out the best strategies to help you obtain relief and positive, permanent change.

What is the difference between talking to me rather than a friend or family member? Good question. The difference is that your close relationships are subjectively involved in your life that makes it very difficult to be objective. As a professional, I have objectivity, training, expert knowledge, and experience. Family and friends have the potential to offer support, yet it is a bit different from seeking guidance from a trained guide.

Counselors will:

*Listen without judgment or expectations

*Provide expert knowledge, feedback, and guidance

*Ensure confidentiality

*Provide helpful perspectives

*Offer genuine support and help

*Listen with no ulterior motives

*Teach new information or skills

What do I have to do during sessions? In general, you can expect to discuss or learn about the current events happening in your life, history relevant to your issue, and talk about progress (or any new insights gained). Sessions are not 'all talk', however, many times therapeutic activities are completed, as related to the particular issues at hand. Suggestions may be provided for you to consider incorporating between appointments, to support your progress.

How long will this take? You are probably very busy, so we will work around your schedule to fit this in while keeping up a regular pace to maintain progress.
