About Me

Dr. Goertz specializes in helping people navigate through mental health challenges and psychiatric disorders using a broad range of therapeutic services that promote physical, emotional, and spiritual health. The focus of therapy is individualized to maximize recovery and begins with a diagnostic psychiatric exam. Recommendations for treatment are developed and evidenced based therapies tailored to specific needs. Counseling sessions may include strategies based on family systems, interpersonal, cognitive behavioral, dialectical and solution based therapies to empower clients with the knowledge and tools they need for optimal brain/mind/body balance. Modalities may include psych education, talk therapy, mindfulness meditations, visualization exercises, positive affirmation and intention, development of communication skills, finding greater life purpose, dissolving limiting beliefs and thinking, deepening self-awareness, uncovering greater self-acceptance, 12 Step program work, setting healthy boundaries, healing of emotional wounds, strengthening spirituality, and a variety of others.



With over 20 years in the mental health field, she has experience treating individuals, couples and families affected by general and serious psychiatric conditions in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. Her unique set of credentials include a Master of Science and PhD in Nursing from the University of Maryland in Baltimore, and a Board Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHCNS, BC) from the American Nurses' Credentialing Center (ANCC). Equipped to offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment across the lifespan, Sherry provides mental health care for individuals, couples and families helping them explore options, find solutions, and learn skills that lead to recovery
