About Me

In full-time private practice now after more than twenty years in behavioral medicine working with obesity, weight management, bariatric surgery patients, diabetes, chronic pain, and other illnesses. I work with pre-teens through adults, and couples, and use a wide variety of therapeutic approaches to help each person live a more fulfilling, self-determined life. In counseling I work with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, eating disorders, bariatric surgery preparation and support, binge eating, gambling, substance abuse and addiction, ADHD and executive function deficits, and a host of other problems and concerns. I believe we are happiest, healthiest, and living to our greatest potential when we lead lives that we choose rather than lives that are chosen for us by our pain, depression, anxiety, trauma, history of abuse, addiction, compulsions, conflicts, unmet needs, shame, guilt, grief and loss, or anything else that chooses our lives for us. I want to help you get better and feel better today!

I have worked in education, as an ordained minister, and in various mental health settings, including a university counseling center, a social service agency, and in a multidisciplinary treatment team for a major hospital. For more than thirty years I have worked in helping professions, more than twenty years in behavioral medicine. Now that I am in full-time private practice I feel a new energy and excitement about what I do, and am eager to keep learning, growing, and helping.
