Licensed Clinical Psychologist (TX)
5068 W. Plano Pkwy Ste 300 Plano, TX 75093 US
I have wanted to be a psychologist since the age of 15, when I was chosen as a Peer Helper at my high school. I was hooked after our 75-hour training retreat. I started working retails jobs to save money for graduate school. Although a rarity among most Americans, I actually enjoy my chosen career path even if I have a resistant or "difficult" patient (If a patient is being "difficult," that's really about the therapeutic relationship and not the patient, IMHO.
- I have been in a private practice setting for 10.5 years, and I immensely enjoy it! I have also worked as the research project coordinator for a $1,000,000 NIH grant, from which I professionally published almost a dozen articles. I began my learning experience in 1997 - 2004. I see mostly medical patients, though I have a general training background as well. I have learned a great deal during my student-years and my career in general. My search for new knowledge never ceases. I have also taught at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in the Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology program, as well as acted as a supervisor to students. I additionally review short- and long-term disability cases for various companies for which I approve or not of requests made. I've done a lot in this field, and don't plan on slowing down!
- I first obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of North Texas, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. I then attend The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas to obtain a Master of Sciences degree in Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology. I eventually returned to UNT to receive my PhD in Clinical Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine. I then became a Fellow at a multidisciplinary chronic pain management program for one-year until I became a fully independent practitioner.
