Debra Wallace

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (IL)

About Me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Illinois, US. I am committed to giving every client a positive reframe on stressors that naturally arise in life and relationships. I serve as an objective guide as clients explore and identify unmet needs as well as discover mutually satisfying ways to get them met. I have had remarkable success helping clients with conflict resolution, assertiveness training, parenting, stress management along with issues related to trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, grief, and loss. I am passionate about the neurophysiological impact of stress and trauma on human development whilst promoting innate intelligence, resilience, and healthy relationships. I have innovatively synthesized evidence-based practices into experiential interventions to maximize human potential and heal trans-generational trauma.

I view therapy as a challenging yet self-loving process. Negativity often comes from unidentified fears, unprocessed stress or trauma, and unmet needs. Engaging in therapy tends to draw out negative patterns or events in one’s life which initially may feel uncomfortable. There are various approaches to therapy and improving well-being. I like to use a solution-focused, brief-therapy model that is trauma informed, holistic and based on attachment science and positive psychology.

Since 2001, I have provided a compassionate space for individuals, couples, and families to safely process their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors regarding sensitive issues. My international career has provided extensive experiences working with children and families in clinical, educational, and recreational settings. I have contributed my expertise to many different settings and formats such as books, websites, hospitals, schools, conferences, legal hearings, committees, agencies, and local media.
