Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CA)
When I'm not working... you can find me at live music venues, art shows, playing with my puppy (okay, grown dog), refining my foodie taste buds, or at home creating beautiful jewelry from copper wiring. I work with a fusion of Solution Focused Therapy with a Family Systems touch and a sprinkle of Psychodynamic Theory. That means, we will work together to identify the problem and immediately begin brainstorming solutions to solve the problem. On that journey, we may identify family dynamics that contribute to the problem, along with experiences from earlier on in life that have shaped us. I have a sense of humor and utilize it in all domains of my life, and that means it stays with me as a therapist also. I also believe that sometimes, we just need a support system to be witness to our pain and struggle while we explore how to overcome it, and I'm happy to be that person for you.
I began my career as a case manager after completing my under graduate degree, and since have worked in a variety of settings providing individual, family, and group therapy, both in outpatient, in home, and inpatient facilities.
My work in community mental health services was very fulfilling, and I worked in some of the most intensive residential and field based services within Los Angeles County. One of my last roles was as a Program Manager of a brand new program within Los Angeles County (Intensive Field Capable Clinical Services), where I worked alongside my director to both develop the structure of the intensity of services, and recruit and train the staff assigned to this program. Following that, I was an Assistant Director for Community Based Services, which included outpatient, school based, and intensive home based services (supervising both clinicians and clinical supervisors).
In addition to my work providing services, supervising, and training in community mental health services, I have worked as a consultant to Drug and Alcohol programs. My work as a consultant included identifying and developing curriculum for drug and alcohol abuse counselors, developing assessment tools and treatment plans, along with providing supervision to counselors delivering the services.
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I attended California State University of Northridge where I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Master of Science Degree in counseling, emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.
